Function Facts |
|
Detailed information about the logistics of the actual function. |
|
| Band space | As part of our
service we would normally check out together with the venue/events
coordinator. This visit would include discussing loading and unloading and
set up and sound check times. We will make sure that there is sufficient
space, and that the performers will set up in the space assigned for them. |
| Power | Unless we advise you
(for instance, if your plans include a big band, or at a very large venue),
the band needs a standard 10 amp power outlet. We will supply all the
necessary leads and power boards. If the function is not at an
established venue, we advise that the band be on a different circuit to
avoid power surges and/or overload. |
|
PA system and lights |
In most cases we will supply the PA systems,
and lights if needed. If required we can provide our own sound people, who
will make sure that the volume etc. are just right for the venue and for
you. This is included in our quote if applicable. By prior
arrangement, you are welcome to use the performers (radio-) microphone for
speeches and we could also record them directly onto CD, if you require. If
you wish we can also play recorded music before, after or during the
performer's breaks.
|
| Liaise with the band | Our contract will
nominate a spokesperson for the performers on the night. This could be for
instance a band leader, sound technician, road manager, etc. To
simplify the process of coordinating breaks, speeches, (planned or
impromptu) formalities, special requests, etc., it is best to give your MC
the job of liaising with that person. He/she is very experienced and will
make sure that everything will run smoothly. |
| Breaks | This spokes person
will liaise with you (or your MC) and the events coordinator about the
performers' breaks. Normally performances are done in 45-50 minutes sets
with breaks of 15-20 minutes in-between. We will discuss this with the
events coordinator, caterer and MC, so that, for instance, the performers
can take a break during speeches. (It is helpful if we obtain a copy
of the running sheet beforehand.) |
| Performing Time | The particular time
period you've hired the band for is specified in the contract. If you need
to vary the times close to the date of the function, you should let us know
as soon as possible and we would try to accommodate you. Extended playing
hours may require an extra fee. |
| Dancing / Style of music |
We can help you choose the right songs for the appropriate time during the
celebrations: background music while guests are arriving or dining, music
for dancing, and songs with special significance. We will discuss with you
in advance if there is a need for the band to change style - for example
from relaxed dining music to dance music later in the evening - so that we
can recommend performers who are experienced in choosing the right tempo at
the right time. |
| Meals | Depending on the
performance times, a meal may be required for the performers. If so,
this will be negotiated with you as part of the contract. Most
established venues will provide a main course for the band as part of their
function packages. |
| Shelter | Shelter from sun,
rain and wind is essential at outdoor events. We will discussed
arrangements with you or the venue/events coordinator beforehand, so there
will be no unexpected surprises if the weather turns bad. |
